On October 8, a lively arts showcase brought together students and teachers from various schools in Hong Kong and Shenzhen at the Shenzhen Conservatory of Music. The event commemorated the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China and aimed to enhance artistic exchanges between the two regions.

Organized by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Education Research Association and the Hong Kong Principal Professional Development Association, the event featured four main segments: a Hong Kong-Shenzhen arts flash mob, special performance sessions, diverse arts workshops, and a seminar focused on arts exchange and integrative education in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

As the national flag waved, students filled the venue with their enthusiastic voices, singing patriotic songs like “I Love You, China,” “My Motherland,” and “March of the Volunteers,” which delighted the audience and prompted enthusiastic applause.

The festivities began with a stirring rendition of the national anthem as the five-star red flag was raised. Students from the Shenzhen Conservatory of Music kicked off the show with “Lights of China,” setting an energetic tone for the day. The Shunde Association Hu Shaoqu Memorial Primary School showcased a special performance entitled “Chinese Dream,” which artfully combined martial arts with poetry in honor of the anniversary.

Artistic expressions continued with Futian Middle School’s original dance titled “Egret Poem” and Shekou Yucai Education Group’s “Long River,” both of which radiated elegance. Meanwhile, a piano and violin ensemble from the Shenzhen Conservatory of Music delivered a beautiful performance of Shostakovich’s “Overture,” creating a calm and reflective atmosphere.

The choristers from Wang Jin Hui Primary School, affiliated with Hong Kong Baptist University, enchanted the theater with “The Joy of Snowflakes” and “My Motherland,” inviting the audience to join in the harmonious experience.

During the seminar, influential figures in arts education shared valuable insights. Xing Dong, Director of the Music Department at the Shenzhen Conservatory; Gao Bingxuan, Principal of Hu Shaoqu Memorial Primary School; and Dr. Han Jinfeng, Director of Music and Performing Arts at Wang Jin Hui Primary School, spoke about their experiences and educational philosophies.

Tang Hao, President of the Hong Kong Principal Professional Development Association, emphasized that this event not only nurtures students’ patriotism but also functions as a vital link for artistic communication between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The initiative aims to foster inter-school artistic exchanges and capitalize on the educational strengths of both regions.
