On October 18, the “Homage – Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of New China: The Inaugural Group Exhibition of Resident Artists at the Zhihui Changyang Art Museum” opened in Beijing. The exhibition features over a hundred artworks from 15 resident artists, including prominent figures such as Wu Weishan, the director of the Chinese National Art Museum.
This exhibition showcases a diverse range of artistic expressions, including painting, calligraphy, seal carving, and sculpture, with a significant focus on works related to red culture, which adds a notable highlight to the event.
Wu Weishan, one of the resident artists, emphasized that the exhibition’s most remarkable feature lies in its gathering of artists with varying styles to foster dialogue. He pointed out that the event also serves as a platform for interaction between artists and the community, contributing to the enrichment of grassroots cultural activities.
Located in Beijing’s Zhihui Changyang Cultural Industry Base, the Zhihui Changyang Art Museum adheres to a mission that embraces diversity, openness, academia, public welfare, and the integration of culture and tourism. The museum’s work encompasses cultural arts, cultural technology, and cultural creativity. To date, it has attracted over 30 resident and collaborative artists, including Wu Weishan, Liu Wanming, Tian Liming, Ma Xinlin, Han Zhengang, and Xiong Honggang, who engage in artistic creation, research, and teaching.
A representative from the organizing committee stated that the inaugural exhibition focuses on the theme “Engaging with Grassroots Communities: Resident Artists Co-Creating Era Narratives,” showcasing a vibrant panorama of artistic expression. The goal is to enrich the cultural lives of local community members.
The exhibition, organized by the Zhihui Changyang Art Museum and academically guided by the China National Academy of Painting and the Propaganda Department of the Fangshan District Committee, will run until November 18, lasting for one month.
