Last month, Sean “Diddy” Combs, the rapper known as “Puff Daddy,” was arrested and indicted, and on the 14th, he faced at least six new sexual assault lawsuits involving both male and female victims, the youngest being just 16 years old at the time of the alleged incident.
This latest batch of lawsuits was filed in Manhattan federal court by two anonymous female and four anonymous male claimants.
Following Combs’ arrest on charges of sex trafficking, more than 100 individuals who allege they were abused by him began to come forward with legal action, and this group of six represents the most recent allegations. One man, currently residing in North Carolina, recounted an incident from 1998 when he attended a party hosted by Combs in the Hamptons at the age of 16 and claims he was sexually assaulted.
The plaintiff described how, during the party, he believed conversations were about how to break into the music industry. However, Combs reportedly asked him to drop his pants, suggesting that this was a necessary step to achieve stardom. The lawsuit states that Combs framed the request as essential for anyone wanting to “make it big in music.”
The young man expressed that he felt a mix of fear, anxiety, and a strange sense of “power balance” with Combs, which led him to comply and remove his pants. It wasn’t until later that he fully understood this encounter constituted sexual assault.
So far, all the legal actions Combs has faced had been civil suits, with criminal accusations only coming from adult survivors.
Neither Combs nor his attorneys have commented on the recent claims made by these six individuals. On October 1, when lawyers for 120 other plaintiffs announced their lawsuits against him, Combs’ attorney, Erica Wolff, dismissed the allegations, stating, “As emphasized by Combs’ legal team, these baseless claims have transformed into a reckless media circus that he is unable to address one by one. However, he will prove his innocence in court.”
The 54-year-old Combs has been accused of orchestrating a “sex exploitation network” involving accomplices from various industries to silence victims through tactics such as kidnapping, arson, and assault. The prosecution has charged him with conspiracy, extortion, and sex trafficking, which he has denied.
Since his arrest on September 16, Combs has been detained at a federal prison in Brooklyn, with attempts at bail having been unsuccessful.
