On October 16, the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. announced an exciting new development in their logistics services. They have introduced a comprehensive logistics product for international rail-road transport, streamlining the entire shipping process and enhancing customs coordination for exports.

In a recent statement, a representative from the freight department shared that on the same day, a train utilizing this new rail-road transport model departed from five cities: Urumqi, Xi’an, Kunming, Jiaozhou, and Shenzhen. After the rail journey, goods will be transferred to trucks for delivery to various border crossings, including Ilkeshkent and Bakhty in Xinjiang, and Mengqiao in Yunnan, before reaching countries like Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, and Myanmar.

Customers can now submit their international multimodal logistics requirements via the railway logistics platform 95306. Once the railroad logistics company takes charge of the shipment, it can transmit real-time logistics information on both rail and road segments directly to customs. This allows for customs clearance, inspections, and other necessary procedures to be performed at the origin, eliminating the need for additional transfer applications or procedures. After securing approval from customs, goods can be directly transferred to trucks upon arrival at the railway station for outbound transport.

The representative highlighted that this new logistics product is not only more efficient compared to traditional rail-road export models, but it also offers more accessible customs procedures and reduced logistics costs. This initiative is expected to further enhance international logistics efficiency while lowering overall shipping costs, playing a vital role in ensuring the stability of the international supply chain and promoting China’s high-level opening-up to the global market.
