On October 17, Japan’s Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) initiated the tenth round of discharging treated nuclear wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, according to a report from Japan’s Jiji Press. This round of discharge is set to conclude on November 4, with an estimated volume of approximately 7,800 tons.

Previously, on October 14, TEPCO completed the ninth round of discharging the contaminated water into the ocean. Despite strong opposition both domestically and internationally to the water release decision, the Japanese government and TEPCO proceeded with the plan, starting the discharge process on August 24, 2023.
