On October 14th, reporters learned from the Guangzhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Station that the 136th China Import and Export Fair, known as the Canton Fair, is set to begin on October 15th. Recent data shows a thriving surge in both passenger and cargo traffic at Guangzhou’s entry and exit ports.

Since entering October and up to the 12th, the station has reported over 520,000 inspections of inbound and outbound passengers, marking a significant increase of approximately 44.5% compared to the same period last year for foreign arrivals.

In anticipation of the Canton Fair, plans are in motion to add several international passenger flight routes from Guangzhou to destinations like Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. During the fair, daily flights are expected to exceed 300, representing a 39.7% increase year-on-year. The average daily influx of travelers could reach over 46,000, with peak days potentially surpassing 48,000, indicating a 15% growth compared to the previous fair.

To facilitate the participation of international business attendees, the Guangzhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Station has implemented tailored service measures based on practical needs. Aiming to streamline the customs inspection process, specialized “Canton Fair express lanes” have been established at various passenger ports, including Baiyun International Airport and Pazhou. A multilingual service team has also been formed to assist delegations from different countries, offering translation and consultation in 13 languages, including English, Korean, German, and Arabic, ensuring clear communication and smooth customs clearance.

Moreover, a temporary entry permit window has been set up for merchants who may not have had time to obtain a visa but qualify for temporary transit without a visa. This is designed to ease their short-term visits to Guangdong for the fair or business exchanges, thus enhancing the implementation of convenient entry-exit policies to attract more participants.

To optimize the customs clearance for exhibiting goods, the station has instituted a “24-hour exemption from inspection procedures for cargo crew operating within restricted areas at Baiyun Airport.” This includes priority processing for critical and emergency flights, as well as streamlined handling for flights making direct or transit connections. Furthermore, a commitment for “7×24” hour clearance service has been introduced at port entry points, aiming for immediate processing and a “one-stop” completion of entry-exit procedures.

Additionally, the station is actively collaborating with the fair’s organizing committee, supporting them in facilitating entry permits for foreign exhibitors at Pazhou port and promoting payment conveniences. They are dispatching key personnel to the fair site to assist with the verification of identification documents for overseas buyers and the issuance of entry permits, all in line with the fair’s theme of “Connecting the World for Mutual Benefits.”
