At the northwest corner of the intersection of N De Anza Blvd and Stevens Creek Blvd, a Valero gas station is offering cash prices for regular gasoline at just $4.05 per gallon, according to reports. As of October 12, AAA’s latest data indicates that the average price for regular gasoline in California stands at $4.673 per gallon, significantly higher than the national average of $3.204, making California the highest-priced state for gasoline. However, in the pricey South Bay of Silicon Valley, drivers can find gas prices that are lower than the state average.

David, a Chinese resident who recently moved to Cupertino, shared his experience with a reporter. After shopping at Marina Food, he noticed a gas station across the street with prices 50 cents to a dollar lower than most places in the Bay Area. “It’s even cheaper than Costco; it’s unbelievable,” he exclaimed.

The Valero gas station he was referring to is also home to Cupertino Car Wash. According to the gas price comparison app Gas Buddy, the standard price here is $4.05 per gallon for cash payments. “That’s the price if you pay with cash,” David added. “If you get gas and wash your car at the same time, it’s even cheaper, just $3.95 per gallon.”

In contrast, the standard gas prices at the nearby Costcos are around $4.09 per gallon. David mentioned that a major reason he became a Costco member was for the gas discounts, but given that he has now found such low prices at a nearby chain station, he might reconsider renewing his Costco membership next year.

A search through Gas Buddy revealed that this Valero station isn’t just the cheapest in Cupertino; it also boasts some of the best prices in nearby cities like San Jose, Mountain View, and Fremont, making it an attractive option for local drivers.
