On October 16, reporters learned from the Guangdong Provincial Market Supervision Administration that in the third quarter of this year, the department investigated a total of 5,162 cases of infringement and counterfeiting, imposing fines and confiscations totaling 32.37 million yuan and referring 60 cases to law enforcement agencies.

In an effort to combat infringement and counterfeiting while protecting intellectual property rights, the market supervision and public security departments in Guangdong have focused their efforts around the Mid-Autumn Festival, aiming to crack down on illegal activities related to mooncakes, tea, alcoholic beverages, fruits, prepared meals, and electric bicycles. Their goal is to safeguard the security and interests of the public.

During the third quarter, the Guangdong market regulation authorities took action on 5,162 infringement cases, resulting in 32.37 million yuan in fines and confiscations, while 60 cases were handed over to police. The police handled 495 cases of intellectual property infringement, successfully solving 454 of them and arresting 998 suspects, with 366 in custody.

Additionally, the Guangdong police launched a significant operation called “Blue Sword No. 10,” targeting intellectual property crimes and the production and sale of counterfeit goods. This operation led to the resolution of 120 cases involving counterfeit fire safety equipment, educational materials, electronics, and clothing. They dismantled 170 production sites and 60 criminal groups, with 269 suspects taken into custody and approximately 8.777 billion yuan implicated in these cases.

Notably, on September 24, under the coordination of the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, police in Guangzhou successfully cracked an “September 6” case involving counterfeit registered trademarks. Over 100 officers were mobilized, resulting in the arrest of six primary suspects, the shutdown of five counterfeit production sites, and the seizure of around 42,000 counterfeit drone blades, over 3,500 motors, and a significant quantity of fake brand markings, with the total value of the goods involved exceeding 20 million yuan.
