The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Education, has honored Mrs. Dorothy Ukachukwu, the Principal of Federal Government Girls College in Abuloma, Rivers State, as an exemplary school leader. This recognition took place during the 2024 World Teachers’ Day celebration at Eagle Square in Abuja, which gathered educators, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the country.
At the event, Mrs. Ukachukwu was awarded the title of Best School Leader and Principal, acknowledging her transformative leadership that has established new benchmarks in school administration and student achievement. A statement from the Federal Ministry of Education praised her, saying, “Under her visionary leadership, Federal Government College Abuloma has become a model of educational innovation and excellence. Her ability to inspire both staff and students is reflected in the school’s outstanding performance, especially in science, technology, and innovation.”
The statement further highlighted, “Ukachukwu’s commitment to excellence and her capacity to motivate both students and teachers are instrumental. The future of Nigeria rests on the children we educate today, and the dedication of exceptional leaders like Mrs. Ukachukwu will nurture the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and leaders. Her passion, perseverance, and commitment to excellence should serve as an inspiration for us all.”
With over three decades of teaching experience, Ukachukwu is a seasoned educationist. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Benin. Currently, she serves as a Director in the Federal Ministry of Education while also leading Federal Government Girls College in Abuloma, Rivers State. Additionally, she is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the African Principals Conference Initiative (APCI), the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TCRN), the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN), and the Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON).
