IBM has officially launched its latest AI model for enterprises, Granite 3.0, today. The move comes as businesses increasingly adopt generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, and IBM aims to seize this opportunity.
According to a report by Reuters, Granite 3.0 continues the tradition of prior models in the Granite (Granite) AI series by being open-source. This approach sets IBM apart from competitors like Microsoft, which require customers to pay for access to their models.
IBM’s pricing strategy involves offering a paid tool called Watsonx, which allows clients to run customized AI models on their data centers with the help of this tool.
Dario Gil, director of IBM’s research department, shared that the Granite 3.0 models have been trained using Nvidia’s H100 graphics processing units (GPUs).
Starting today, various versions of Granite 3.0 will be available on the Watsonx platform for commercial use. Additionally, select versions of Granite 3.0 will be included in the software toolkit provided by Nvidia to assist businesses in implementing AI models.
