From October 6 to 8, Arukhaiqen played host to the first leg of the 2024 National Judo Ranking Tournament, drawing an impressive 528 athletes from 33 teams nationwide.

The event was orchestrated by the General Administration of Sport’s Weightlifting, Wrestling, and Judo Sports Management Center, in partnership with the Chinese Judo Association and the People’s Government of Arukhaiqen, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia.

In line with the International Judo Federation’s regulations, competitors battled it out in 14 weight categories, including men’s -60 kg, men’s +100 kg, women’s -48 kg, and women’s +78 kg.

Athletes delivered powerful performances on the mat, showcasing the extensive dedication and effort they have invested in their training.

This year’s National Judo Ranking Tournament is comprised of three legs, with the Arukhaiqen event marking the initial phase. The next leg is set to take place in Changji, Xinjiang, while the venue for the third leg remains undecided.

Sources indicate that this national ranking competition stands as one of the premier judo events in the country and is a significant part of a broader reform initiative aimed at elevating the sport. The tournament seeks to broaden the scope of domestic events, improve organizational quality, and provide athletes with elite competitive experiences.
