On October 17, the China Meteorological Administration reported that in the coming three days, northern Xinjiang, eastern Tibet, and Qinghai are expected to experience significant snowfall. Authorities are emphasizing the potential impacts on traffic safety and agricultural production. Additionally, regions such as Chongqing and Shandong may face heavy rainfall challenges, raising concerns about localized heavy downpours and the secondary disasters they might trigger. Another point of concern is the strong winds and falling temperatures set to arrive on October 18, which could affect transportation, agriculture, and public health.
Additionally, from October 17 to 18, a large swath of precipitation is anticipated across central and eastern China. Specifically, between 8 AM on the 17th and 8 AM on the 18th, areas in southern Shandong, central-western Shanxi, and northwestern and southern Henan are forecasted to receive heavy rain, with some regions experiencing torrential rainfall. Between the same dates, parts of northwestern Xinjiang and southeastern Tibet may also face moderate to heavy snow or sleet, with localized blizzards resulting in accumulations of 20-45 mm in some areas.
From October 18 to 19, strong cold air will influence northern regions, bringing strong winds and a noticeable drop in temperatures. Expected temperature declines range from 8-10°C in parts of northeastern China and the eastern Huabei region, to as much as 14°C in localized areas. Strong winds of 4-6 Beaufort will be experienced across much of Huabei, northeastern regions, and Huaihe areas, with gusts reaching up to 8-9 Beaufort along eastern seas.
