The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) has officially announced the appointment of Mrs. Afolake Olawumi Oso as its new Registrar and Chief Executive, effective October 18.
Mrs. Oso, who has a background in law, has had a distinguished career with the institute since she joined in 2008 as a Manager in the Research department. She quickly climbed the ranks, becoming the Acting Head of Education and Research in 2015, a position she was confirmed in later that same year. In 2016, she was promoted to Assistant Director and was subsequently reassigned to the Exams and Student Affairs department in 2017. Following a restructuring at CITN, she took the helm of the Corporate Affairs Department, and in 2020, she served as the Acting Deputy Director for Corporate Services, Membership, and External Relations.
Prior to her current role, she was named the Deputy Registrar for Technical and Professional Services in 2021 before stepping into the Acting Registrar/Chief Executive role.
In a statement celebrating her appointment, Mrs. Oyeronke Ojo, the Director of Corporate and Internal Services at CITN, expressed her congratulations to Mrs. Oso, emphasizing her well-deserved elevation. “Her dedication and outstanding performance have been apparent throughout her time with the Institute, and we have every confidence in her ability to lead CITN to new heights,” Ojo noted. “Her promotion to this significant role reflects her hard work, expertise, and commitment to the goals of the Institute. Her extensive experience and leadership within CITN position her as a valuable asset, and we believe her appointment will further strengthen the Institute’s standing in the industry.”
