As the vibrant harvest season unfolds, we turn our attention to the bustling agricultural activities across various regions of China, focusing on the remarkable efforts of local farmers.

In Fujian Province’s Yanping District, the aroma of ripening rice fills the air as farmers take advantage of the sunny weather to bring in their harvest. At Xiaoyang Town, we observed lush fields where heavy rice ears bowed low under their weight, while modern harvesters navigated efficiently through the rows. Local agricultural technicians shared that despite the challenges posed by high temperatures affecting the heading stage of the rice, effective field management has resulted in yields comparable to previous years.

The Yanping District has implemented several supportive policies for agricultural enterprises, promoting mechanical rice planting services and encouraging concentrated land leasing for grain cultivation. These measures aim to boost farmer enthusiasm and increase their incomes. This year, the district anticipates covering a grain planting area of approximately 148,100 acres, with a total yield expected to exceed 58,600 tons. As of now, they’ve already harvested 26,600 tons of medium and late rice.

Traveling to Hebi in Henan Province, we find it’s a crucial period for winter wheat sowing. Local farmers are utilizing new technologies and machinery to enhance sowing quality and ensure uniformity for the upcoming harvest. The city has already sown 1,154,000 acres of winter wheat, marking over 80% completion.

At a 5G digital agriculture demonstration park in Qixian County, high-tech planting machines equipped with BeiDou navigation systems are diligently working the fields. Technicians are on-site guiding operators in implementing varied-row planting methods; meanwhile, the sound of machinery fills the air as the plump seeds are swiftly planted into the ground. This area is nearing the end of its 3,200 acres of wheat sowing.

To improve sowing efficiency, local experts recommend that farmers time their planting according to weather conditions and adhere to guidelines regarding quantity, soil moisture, and planting depth. This year, Henan’s pre-sowing area for wheat is projected at 1,356,000 acres. As of October 18, sowing has reached 1,154,000 acres, about 85.1% of the planned area.

In Chongqing’s Youyang, the golden autumn season marks a fruitful time for pomelo farmers. With over 15,000 acres of pomelo trees maturing, local farmers are excited about their harvest.

At the pomelo base in Dongkou Village, the trees are lush and laden with ripe fruit, and workers are busy picking, transporting, and packing the harvest. Nearby, an automated sorting factory operates at full capacity, efficiently washing, sorting, and packing the fruits. The introduction of advanced equipment has significantly increased productivity.

Thanks to the favorable climate, Youyang has successfully developed a thriving fruit industry, with pomelo cultivation covering over 15,000 acres, yielding more than 20,000 tons annually and generating an output value exceeding 50 million yuan.

This season exemplifies the hard work, innovation, and resilience of farmers across these regions, revealing a vibrant agricultural landscape teeming with activity.
